Careline Services recently joined the Philippines Nurses Association of New York during their Spring Conference at the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital on April 2019 as an exhibitor.

The keynote speaker was Ramil L. Cabela, BSN, MBA, DBA, RN who discussed the Asian leader pathways with respect to cultural traits, challenges and assimilation to advocate for safe practice on the topic of Asian Immigrants in Leadership Roles in the United States: Exploration for Leader Development. It’s a timely topic as he discussed about the contributions of Asian Immigrants to the US economy. Marie Ortaliz, EdD, MS, RN, CCRN-K, President, PNA New York, Inc, explained the demand for competent clinical preceptors to effectively develop critical thinking and decision-making on her topic, The Impact of Preceptor Training on Effectiveness of Preceptors. Jona Caparas, MSN, RN, VA-BC, who is a subject matter expert on catheters explained proper care and maintenance of vascular access catheters. PNA New York, Inc. was fortunate to have two of its Executive Board members present. The afternoon session consisted of two presentations: Palliative Care: End of Life Conversations- Communication Tools and Advance Care Planning by Anna Krakowski, MS, AGPCNP-BC, ACHPN, CHPN. She discussed the right approach of communication in End-of-Life and Advance Care Planning about end-of-life discussion with family and staff. Nemcy Duran, BSN, RN, RAC-CT, QCP, CDP presented What Every Clinician needs to know about Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM). PDPM is about CMS’s new payment methodology for skilled nursing facilities. She explained the nurse’s role in Patient Driven Model and impact on patient care.
